By Mary Morel
Since is sometimes ambiguous because it can relate to time, or to cause and effect.
They haven’t rested since they moved into their new flat. (time)
We cleaned the flat since we wanted to make it feel like home. (cause)
The use of since in relation to time is more common than its meaning as cause and effect.
It’s probably better to use because in the second sentence.
We cleaned the flat because we wanted to make it feel like home.
