Reader’s question: Do you put Latin expressions in italics?
Online grammar answer: Most Latin expressions are now so commonplace that there is no need to use italics for expressions such as bona fide, ad nauseam, et cetera.
The exception is sic, which is used to show that an incorrect or archaic usage is reported faithfully. Sic needs to be in italics and square brackets. For example:
The dog ate it’s [sic] bone.
NB I note that newspapers often don’t put sic in italics so maybe that style is changing too.
