Replacing the generic 'he'
I think the generic 'he' is unacceptable in writing these days, but 'he/she' or 'h/she' looks ugly.
My suggestions are to use the:
- plural wherever possible.
When employees enter the data, they must remember to save it. - second person when appropriate.
When you enter the data, remember to save it. - singular 'they'.
When an employee enters the data, they must remember to save it.
