indigenous or Indigenous?

Reader's question: Can you please clarify the capitalisation of the word 'Indigenous' when referring to Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people?

Online grammar answer: Aboriginal should always definitely be capped when referring to Australian Aborigines (as opposed to the aboriginal, i.e. indigenous, peoples of other countries).

Many writers use lower case for indigenous when referring to Aboriginal communities or populations, but there seems to be a definite push towards upper-casing it for respect. Over to you!
